Western Faces - Kosciuszko National Park This is a video showing the battering we experienced from reasonably strong northwesterly winds (later westerly) on an eight day telemark trip. You can see my Hilleberg Nammatj tunnel tent taking a beating, while shielding a bit of the wind for my mates dome four season tent. This is about 2/3rd of the final wind strength, as the wind really picked up later on. It varied a lot throughout the day, with some very solid gusts. I was already sliding around in my down booties in this wind, so I didn't film the peak wind. We ended up spending a whole day waiting for a slightly better forecast the next day. At 6am the next day the wind settled for a few hours and we quickly retreated to Seaman's Hut. Unfortunately it was still a white out but we had no choice because the forecast was predicting even stronger winds for the next few days. A beautiful region of the Australian Alps but it can be very brutal too. Remember to always respect the mountains, as it has no sympathy for mistakes or inappropriate gear! The weather is always so hard to predict and changes all the time (forecast predicted two sunny days haha). Cheers Chris
