Venice: City of Dreams
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
After sorting through the monuments of Venice's powerful past, we'll trace its decline from Europe's most powerful city to its most hedonistic one. We'll cruise the Grand Canal, luxuriate in a venerable café, and savor fresh fish canal-side with Venetian friends. Becoming as anonymous as possible in this city of masks, we'll be dazzled by masterpieces of the Venetian Renaissance and get intimate with the city of Casanova...on a gondola in the moonlight. © 2012 Rick Steves' Europe

Was fortunate enough to visit Venice 3 times this year and became engaged there.

I highly recommend visiting here! It was absolutely amazing! You will NEVER see anything like it anywhere else! An entire city surrounded by water instead of roads. Its also frozen in time, and you really feel like you traveled back in time to the renaissance period. A magical place it was!

Yes it is a magical city and reminds me of mythical or otherwise Atlantis, before it sunk. However, not impressed with the service in the restaurants or the general attitude of those in the service industry like the supermarket what are you go buy bottled water. This channel is a real resource full getting oriented but the glossing over all of that can be a bit of a shock when you're on the ground and experiencing it in real life. Venice is a must do and definitely in the bucket list of most of us. In the end I'm just a tourist, so the Venetians can do whatever they do and however they want to do it to us tourist.

Short, informative, snappy. Better than anything on 'travel and living'.
