The two thousand five hundred and eighty seven metre high Kanin Mountain near Bovec is typical of the park’s karst and limestone landscape with its bare slopes and bizarre rock formations. The highlight of this natural beauty is a high valley that contains seven lakes. The climb is rather testing but well worth it as wonderful alpine flora adorns the landscape. Many of the remarkable alpine flowers are endemic and can only be found in the high mountains.
