My favorites, Berlin, Munich, the Hertz Mountains (Wenigerode, Quedlinburg), Heidelburg, The Mosel River, Bamberg, Regensburg, Luneburg, then over to the rest of the German speaking world, Vienna, Salzburg, and the Alps.

What master's program did you do? Did you have to speak German to do the program or was it in English?
-
how long are you going to be there? and what time of the year?

Germany is cheap, great supply of low cost supermarkets and kebab-parlors. The trains are on time and there is information and timetables. But big german cities are quite boring and modern looking because they were demolished during the war. Germans can be rude and they are not very polite compared to the brittish.

you are looking at Bavaria (Munich's region) and then Ruhrgebiet (Cologne, Essen, Dusseldorf). Those are two big working areas.

I've never been to germany but from what I heard from my uncle who lived there for about three to six years was that the people were very nice and that the land was very clean and beautiful. ^_^
