Tour du Mont Blanc 2013 (TMB) | SUPERIOR VERSION
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
After completing the GR20 in 2012, we decided to circumnavigate the Mont Blanc Massif following the TMB trail (including its alternative routes). We started and finished in Les Houches (anti-clockwise direction), covering a distance of roughly 200 km with 10 km of ascent/descent and passes through parts of Switzerland, Italy and France. We carried our own sleeping gear comprising of tent, sleeping bag and mat, and together with clothing, paraphernalia, and 3-4 liters of water, our backpack's averaged 17 Kg in weight. We enjoyed our meals at numerous eateries along the trail. It was a tough trek with beautiful views and amazing moments. The TMB long distance walk is catered to trekkers spending their night in the many available accommodations/refuges along the route. Most locations have options for campers, however, the camp fields are usually away from the main accommodation buildings. Pitching up your tent is free at most places, but when using the shower, a fee is charged. Beware the TMB is not considered a 'cheap long distance walk' and during the summer months availability and food at the lodges is not guaranteed without reservations. ABOUT THIS FILM: we used two small cameras with HD video recording. After the entire trip we found out one of the camera's audio recording had completely failed. Therefore this edited video contains lots of music songs to cover up the mute clips. COMMENTS & LIKES are appreciated! QUESTIONS are welcomed.

Did you guys camp the whole way, or stay in some refuges as well? We are going mid-Sept 2016 and "wild camping" the whole way, which seems common enough, but not how most do it. I also intend to do a video log as you have. Did you use GoPro, or a different handheld camera?

Guys what month did you do this in please? Awesome video by the way!!!!! Excellent!

Some epic visuals in there guys. An invigorating trek for sure with some cool tunes. I'm positive Geoff looks happy behind a plate or glass although he probably eats up the mountains also. Ha ha. Good going. ATB mark.

@Cravid Great video guys! What time of year did you hike the TMB? The paths of snow, do they exist in August and September? Thanks!

My older brother and I are planning to do this trip later this year in July. This video has really convinced me that I will enjoy every second of this trip. Thanks for sharing this video ;)

Hi Cravid, awesome video! I am planning to do the TMB early this June. I was wondering for each day around what time did you reach your destination? I was thinking of completing the tour in 9 days. So I am unsure if that's will be too rushed. Do you have any advice on that?
Also, if I plan to cook my own dinner, do the campsites allow that? Thank you ^^ -
Great video. Most vids of the route only show people and not the path walked. I am doing the Tour du Mont Blanc later this year and I found this video really helpful. Here you actually get to see the path, the climbs, the streams, the woods, the hostels etc. Thanks for posting it. Much appreciated.

Great video very inspirational

You say it is not considered a 'cheap long distance walk'. I'm 17 years old and don't have much money but I was planning on doing this in the summer (June). How much should I account for per day if you don't mind me asking? I'm planning to go tenting, and I already have a backpack.

Hey guys, your video was awesome! I'm looking to do the TMB myself and i was wondering what month did you go? i wonder if the peaks are still snow capped in July :)

Awesome trek and nice video! During what time of the year was it done?

Hi guys, this video was so helpful for my boyfriend and I as we did TMB July/August 2014 - we watched this at least 5 times before we left then when we were on the trail we kept saying that's where the video was! We had a brilliant time overall - it was one of those life experiences that one never forgets..even though it was my second time.
Anyway thanks for making this video it was incredibly insightful and we absolutely loved the music!! -
Amazing video, good job guys. Me and my friend decided to hike it as well next summer and I´d like to ask whether there were enough camping spots on the way. We´d like to go low budget (students) so it would be nice to know in advance if that´s an option. Also, would you advise this tour to fairly inexperienced people? Thanks in advance, really enjoyed your video, made me even more excited about TMB!

Great video guys. After my solitary GR20 in 2010 and 2011, I would like walking the TMB too. I've also seen a lot of snow on the way ... in that period you have done your TMB? Thanks for all info
-
I've just done TMB myself about the same trail you did. Your video is fantastic, bringing my memory from the journey- I call life's journey itself. Thanks.
