THE MATTERHORN
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
A very detailed film of the Matterhorn set in 3 parts. Part 1 starts at 4:31 features the climb from the Hornli Hut to the Solvay Hut. Part 2 starts at 13:01 follows the climb from the Solvay Hut to the Summit. Part 3 begins at 31:32 and follows the descent from the Summit to the Hornli Hut. The actual climb was an 8 hour round trip (4 hours from Hornli Hut to Summit and 4 hours descent) crammed into just under 50 minutes. This video while it seems rather long in duration, its main purpose is to inform clients who wish to climb one of the most iconic peaks on the planet safely. I would like to thank Icicle Mountaineering for their impeccable logistical support and for putting together an incredible course which has enabled me to fulfill a dream. Their website is here : http://www.icicle-mountaineering.ltd.uk/ and the course that I booked on is here: http://www.icicle-mountaineering.ltd.uk/matterhorn.shtml I would also like to extend my special thanks and appreciation to the climbing legend Ervin Velic who I climb with usually every year. He is one of Icicle Mountaineering Ltd's guides (and they have many highly qualified and experienced Guides) yet Ervin is someone who I have trusted with my life literally, he is a lot of fun off the mountain but deadly serious on the mountain with extremely high standards. Brilliant video in many respects but why or why do so many extreme sportspeople use Fish Eye lenses. It distorts everythibg so badly like a 'crazy' mirror and gives viewer motion sickness. From what I cld see, the mountain sort of looked manmade with blocks of stone fitted together

Amazing video, well done. I would have been paralysed by fear long before I reached the summit.
-
What's the point of the rope if there is no protection? One falls, both die...
-
too scary... i cant do like you did... i m scare of height...
-
This is pretty amazing; I'd love to do this some day.
-
Awesome! Worst for me watching was walking on the Ridge up top.
-
такой вот окультуренный альпинизм -веревки протянуты,скобы набиты,легко залезть и легко спустится-а это главное.

Great, great video.

Awesome vid man, still watching atm. I had a question: how much experience did you have before climbing the Matterhorn? And how did you begin climbing?
-
I want to climb the matterhorn what an amazing experience and achievement
-
Amazing video,thank you mate.

Descending looks more dangerous than ascending. My sincerest respect to those who can do this.
-
With all due respect to these climbers, I see the party roped together but where is the rope secured to the mountain? If one falls, wouldn't all be taken with him? Maybe I am just not seeing the protection.

what camera you use:?

i think i will death

Damn this looks so impressive, beautiful and at the next minute so harsh and dangerous. I have a fear of high so I'm glad there are films like this where I'm "able to be on the summit"without all the danger:)
-
how high were you?
-
most of that mountain looks like loose shards that could break away at any moment. ........ scary place.
-
well done bro

This looks scary. I'm honestly afraid of Matterhorn. I would never climb it. Easier mountains are for me.. Altitude is not a problem 4 me, scary is. But thanx 4 the video, what a great view!
