If we can make rocket ships that can reach other planets outer space, theres gotta be a rocket ship that can be made to reach Everest. As well as the way down.

If someone on the ground at sea level, let's say in a major city in the U.S.; began to express the overwhelming desire to do something that was potentially suicidal, that person would be restrained, either medically or criminally as in the case of an adolescent New Yorker who likes hanging by one hand from the scaffolding of skyscrapers . I see no difference to the psychological condition of such a person to those who who have the same compulsion to place their lives in jeopardy by this admittedly selfish decision. What makes one mindset unstable and the other the measure of stability? My point is they both may suffer the same mental health condition. One just requires the luxury of expendable wealth and leisure time to execute. Throughout this documentary the question of the soundness of the participants mental acuity is called into question. It all seems to support this point that the proper counsel might benefit either or both conditions.

My first instinct when I see some one hurt is to try to help them

What a bunch of lemmings.

how can that lady Cathy sit there and smile and laugh about a time when she left another person to die with the possible ability to save her life? that South African team is a bunch of monsters and should be extremely ashamed of how they treated another fellow climber and human being. leaving her to die in the snow alone and still speaking is beyond anything I can understand.
-
cathy = bitch , i hope i never come across her ever !!!
-
My theory: these people are allowed to let the others die with no penalty and lots of people, at that point, don't care for others in the least.

Climbers should never make a family. Most of them I've seen documentaries with seemed simply too irresponsible. I can understand they have the love for climbing and need the ultimate challenge in their lives but then just spare the pain and suffering of your loved ones every time you go on a climbing.
Ordinary people find enough challenge in every day of their lives. :) -
all retarded cowards-your first job is to save people.if you cannot carry some up and down the mountain dont go......the smart people jump out of planes or go to mecca
-
Everybody knows. Above 8000 meters everybody is on their own, everybody knows that. Everybody who claims the moral high ground, is according to me, a non climber, out off his mind.
-
they can easily sort out people dying from the cold just put them in a nasa space suit they protect up to minus 250, problem solved
-
My advice is If you ever see that arrogant lying in self denial South African bitch on a mountain, push her off or you might as well just end it all then and there.
-
That woman in a red blouse, the South African one I truely do think that if something like what happened to Weathers had happened to her, she would be crying foul and blaming anyone and everyone on her path. That's my gut instinct, and I haven't even finished watching the documentary yet...

this bitch is so selfise and crule si dosen t fell remorse for nobody

Well quite a lot of comments here first off I do not criticize anyone that climbs Everest and say that they are selfish or anything else we humans all want to do things out of the ordinary if we have the capabilities it can be a variety of achievements not always physical like this I myself do not do any mountaineering itself I do have as bragging rights a trek to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back up the next day ,,,that entails a 10 mile trek each way starting at the bottom at about 2.600 feet and finishing at the top about 7.500 feet about a 5.000 foot climb along the Bright Angel Trail on the south Rim this is no mount Everest I know no altitude sicknest at least for healthy people but yes it is a dangerous trek one must be carefull there where no railings on the edge of the trail you fall over you are gone dead this was 30 years ago maybe now they put some railings maybe not for me at that time and age it was quite doable however there are people that start this trek and then have to be rescued very expensive for them........ For me then this was more Exploration and to see the beauty of the Grand Canyon rather than bragging Rights ..... I am sure the climbers of Mount Everest must enjoy some awesome scenery on their trek up that Mountain at least at the lower altitudes In the Death zone one then must concentrate more on survival...... the Highest point I have been to outside a pressurize aircraft is 8350 some feet at the countinental divide at Yellowstone National Park

you have to be crazy for wanting to climb a mountain like that, loose your limbs or life I think it's stupid period.
-
O'Dowd says (21.29) "we weren't heroes." I question if you are even human, not letting those that were attempting to help to even use your radio to communicate with base camp. Disgusting.
-
It should be outlawed to go mountain climbing. By doing so, you not only risk your own life, but also that of others. And leaving a living climber behind makes them murderes.

OK, I'm less than 80 seconds into this video, and I'm closing it already!
the insanely irritating dramatic american voiceover, the dreadful picture quality, and the god damn advert at SIXTY SECONDS FFS have ruined what promised to be an interesting evening. -
One does not prove with reaching the Everest anything but his/her readiness to sacrifice all that they have (life) only for the disputable pleasure to stand at the top of this mountain. Even if it had any significant value, it stands for nothing in comparison to the value of life and meeting again your beloved. There are Darwin awards and the people who risk their lives so much without an important reason deserve them, without doubt!
