TGV Italy France Driver's eye view PREVIEW

www.video125.co.uk This is a Driver’s eye view filmed on board an international train service, TGV 9244 travelling from Milan to Paris through the Alps. We board the TGV, 90 minutes into its journey at the brand new station of Turin Porta Susa, for a spectacular ride through the Alpine scenery. On-board cameras show the view of the road and the driver working with the Italian SCMT train speed control system. The climb towards the Alpine backdrop is relentless, starting gently at first but then increasing to as steep as 1 in 33, close to the maximum for conventional adhesion based railway vehicles. The summit is reached inside the 8 1/2 mile long Fréjus tunnel, the first through the Alps opened in 1871 at the time the longest tunnel in the world! With tunnel lighting, we can actually see it as the driver does. Once in France we continue with the Italian crew and Italian signalling until we reach Modane. Now the French crew takes over and we descend, at a similar rate to the climb, towards Chambery in South East France. En route we learn of France’s worst ever train disaster and see where 700 soldiers perished on board a runaway train. Filmed last summer, this feat of incredible engineering, coupled with the spectacular Alpine scenery, is a journey not to be missed. Available on DVD and in high definition on Blu-ray disc. The narrator is Jonathan Kydd while on both the DVD and Blu-ray discs, commentary is also available in Italian, French and German. There is even the option of no commentary at all – just the sounds of the TGV Réseau. Running time is 123 minutes

The complete ride from Turin to Chambery takes around 2 h 30 min. Is the integral view available?
-
another wonderful production with well researched commentary. wish they do more European rides outside France
-
I know its only a clip but the yellow lettering moving to and fro across the screen was very off putting.

Yes, contrary to what people say about Video 125 having to charge for viewing the full production, sadly nothing in the production process is free. We have had to pay train companies, crew, subsistence (hotels and travel etc) narrator (times 4) let alone the hours of editing. Some CAB RIDES are on YOUTUBE for free but they have very few costs - if any. I am sure you are only too aware of the costs of filming Al. We also use full broadcast gear and personnel of course.

The TVM wouldn't be used on this stretch, as it's only used on the French LGV purpose-built high-speed lines, none of which would be used by this train between Turin and Chambery.

No TVM?

Nice to see Left Hand Running overseas!

this new driver eye view looks stunning a long time coming waiting to see the preview so glad to of been able to finally see it amazing and i can't wait to be abel to order it and have my very own copy exited is to say the least, i am very close about 5 dvds away from completing all the collection of every single thing that video 125 sells including old no longer sold dvd's and VHS's of productions that never made it to dvd. honestly i think you guys are the best at doing train production dvd's and cab rides / driver eye views. i have some from other companies but nothing can ever come close to your productions so well done for that. of you ever do go to wales again please could you film the Llangollen Railway i stayed their last summer and its a stunning line with amazing buildings and views. i bought a production of the line filmed last year by a company and it was so bad the audio was not good and the different camera angles they tried to film just did not work well for them. anyway well done once again and i will feel very proud once i have completed and got every production you have ever made on dvd or vhs
