I just purchased MBI blind on reviews... It smells too much like joop for my liking.

Mont Blanc Individuel is one of the few cases that not only is the cheaper version a better value for your dollar, but it's also a better fragrance overall.
It is true that the drydown of Creed's is richer, but the opening and first hour of MBI is much better. Plus, MBI is more versatile and can be worn in the summer, whereas Creed cannot. -
This is not fair for Joop!. Joop! at first was distributed by Lancaster fragrances. In 2007 or so it switched to Coty as the distributor. It now smells like a chemical mess. It used to smell like a rum cured tobacco tonka bean vanilla, patchouli. It, to me, smelled nice. But the Coty formulation.. Not so.

It's Wolverine -
Don't know if you guys know this...Montblanc Individuel actually cane out before Original Santal. Most people think Individuel is a flanker of Original Santal.

I almost didnt buy this frag just based on the comparison to JOOP... Thank goodness I decided to take a chance with this. As far as JOOP goes my girlfriend said out of all 100 frags I JOOP and Ice Men by Thierry Mugler are by far the worst !

I personally haven't smelled Joop or Original Santal, so I can't really judge on those juices, but I did own a bottle of Mont Blanc's Individuale which my Dad had bought and did not like so he passed it on to me which I thought was an OK scent. It was not what I was used to wearing, very different, but still nice! I just remember that the frag smelled like chocolate I don't know why??? Anyhow, point is MB was alright, but as for the other ones I haven't smelled I think if it's similar as you say I would not buy cause it's not my type of scent!! Peace and thanks.

Pls guys there any difference between Mont Blanc Individuel and Mont Blanc Individuelle?

This is a copy of what I wrote in response to another comment below...
Joop is not harsh in my opinion. It's not meant to be smelled very close. I haven't smelled OS or Individuel, but about Joop....if you are light on the trigger, 1 or 2 sprays max, and you give it about 15-20 minutes to settle in and lose that horrible Cotton Candy vibe and harsh opening....It's an amazing smell! It develops nicely.
I've been looking for this fragrance for 25 years. My high school teacher wore it and I didn't know what it was and I was desperately trying to sniff out many fragrances from the 80's to see if I could find it. Then one day, I caught a whiff of someone at work and I immediately asked him and he told me it was Joop! and that was about 7 months ago. And the trail that this co-worker and my high school teacher left was NOT HARSH AT ALL, it was a nice, sophisticated, meditative ,mysterious and clean scent (at least that's the vibe I get from it).. must be the sandalwood.
I'm sure OS is better , deeper , more complex...... but for almost 10 times the price?? I'll stick with Joop or Individuel. If it's anything like the comparison between GIT and Cool Water, how can you justify the price? I mean if you're hard on cash, if you've got the money then fine. -
Just got Mont Blanc Individuel for $21.75 w/free shipping on ebay yesterday...

Some days ago I catched the scent trail of someone wearing Joop, and trust me, it was fantastic. Since then, I've been wearing it myself, and after the harsh opening, it difuses really well, creating a very pleasant cloud. I think it just wasn't made to be smelled closely. It happens to me also with other Joop fragrances, like Nightflight, which I think (again, after the opening) it's a work of art, synthetic yet beautiful.

Incredible Hulk vs Wolverine. lol
-
I bought MB Individuel. Any time I wore it my wife and women at work would say "you've got Joop on haven't you?" No-one is ever going to ask you if you have OS on.
-
You should really get a jar of coffeebeans and clean your pallet between each smell, just a thought. When im smelling different fragrances, i always "clean my nose" inbetween.
-
Indeed Santal and Montblanc are close...for me Santal is much more complex and not so sharp and artifical like montblanc in the beginning. No doubt Montblanc is a very cheap but good parfum...i own both and prefer santal because of its more elegant and smoother smell. (even its much more expensive)

I dont quite get this biased view most fragrance reviewers on Youtube seem to have for anything coming out of the Creed house. If any other perfume maker tries to emulate a creed fragrance, they are reviled for producing cheap knock offs of creed's 'masterpieces'. So much that reviewers would go to any lengths to prove the knockoffs are cheap or synthetic, even if they smell absolutely similar. Take for example, Davidoff Cool Water. The much abused step brother of GIT for being such a cheapo, without any plausible reason.
But when the same Creed rips off the fragrance formula of a lesser known fragrance house, reviewers will still give credit to Creed for making a better alternative. I dont get this bias. To me, Mont Blanc Individuel smells better than Original Santal and I'm not afraid to say Creed made a 'Cheapo' knockoff of the Individuel. -
I am from the south so I know what burnt grits smell like lol.
