Lot's of negative comments about Montblanc M. I agree that the pen is nothing like traditional Montblanc pens and I also don't like the fact that you cannot post the cap. On the other hand, I really liked the Ultra Black model, which was launched in July 2016. MB seems to be back on track with the Ultra Black but the M model was a big mistake.

I'd certainly choose a 146 or nearly anything else in the price range over this. I like magnetic closures for their lack of threads and ease for quick notes, so the M has that going for it. Thanks for another fine SN episode guys.

Montblanc must hate fountain pen users. The one thing I hear from all of us is people complaining about threads. So, montblanc removes the need for threads and then adds threads all up and down the section. :(

I like it a lot. I will be purchasing it.

I have to agree with you both, this is a $200 pen all day long. Heck, maybe even $250. But were I looking for a modern, design driven pen that is a cartridge/converter filler for around $200-250, I would be just as happy with a Lamy Dialogue, or a Diplomat Aero with a gold nib.
-
For a good-looking pen-reviewing duo, I sure think that you shall eventually be forced to acknowledge the need for ventriloquist dummies on your show, one for each of you. I will endeavor to produce them for you free of charge, provided you promise to use them at least once.
-
Stephen, for a pen under $250 ish or so, what would you recommend for sheer writing experience? I found some Pelikan M400's for $190 from an authorized retailer on eBay, and that looks enticing, however would I just be better off with something like a Lamy 2k or Pilot CH92?

What was MB thinking...
-
I would buy this pen for $50 buck, why it looks like a Lamy and the way the grip and the why it looks. Bummed bye guys bye bye

😂🍩

That's what $500 US DOLLARS or close to it, for a cartridge pen, that really doesn't come close to look like something that's get my attention, so for me not SERIOUS nip, not worth the money's not a well made pen. 😞

👏👏👍

That section is darn ugly. If that's what comes out of 16 semesters of product design - screw that. The whole thing speaks books about the brand.
-
I really not liking the design at all. The metal grip section.(I hate metal grip sections) The very boring looking nib, the Lamy like design and it is cartridge only). Not to say I dislike MontBlanc. In fact I will get myself a M 149 very soon. (I really love that sigar shape, the shiny black classic look and the size.)

When I first saw this pen I immediately thought 'Streamlined Lamy Safari.' I know it has it's own originality to it but that clip is a little too close to a Safari's. Its design has a kind-of rugged minimalist industrial look to it but unfortunately is made primarily of plastic. It does feel somewhat solid in the hand but perhaps this design would work better as a metal pen. I think if it were metal it would complete the overall look and feel of the pen. Maybe they should take another cue from Lamy and do a PVD coated version.

Another great review, thanks. I would love to see the Visconti Homo Sapiens

Far too polite about something that really didn't work... Really tried hard to find the words that were polite...
