Santa must have taken the believes also from Turkey , hanging a red ribbon on brach of a Pain Tree and wishing some thing from God , you know only all Central Asians and Altai people (Altai is where Chinese given Turks the name "Turk") worship trees hanging ribbons on them , the Red color is believed to be a protecter from evil things by Turks , so today's Turks still use it such as all Turks wear a red ribbon on their wedding dress (wedding Dresses were totally red till last 2 or 3 generations ) , and when a Turkish woman gave birth she wears a red ribbon on her head , but they don't know why do they wear it , but just know that it is a tradition . Turks still hang some bush on their entrance doors to be protected from devil things in Hıdırelles celebration , when the springs come on 4th May , and fire guns out to frighten evil creatures ....

the truth is Rick the foie grah that you just showed should be illegal everywhere in the world and anyone that is found with it serving it caught with it it should be charged with animal abuse and charged with felonies there is no excuse for that God did not allow for man to torture his animals every fancy chef would charge them off and put them in jail

Wrong about Christmas. Would a mother forget when her son was born? Mary was part of the early church and would have known the date of her sons birth, plus we also have the census information from that era and know when it was taken. Christ was born on Christmas. The pagan celebration ended several days before Christmas. So it was not a "clever pope" that did this. The date was always known and handed down by tradition. Also, see the documentary "The Star of Bethlehem" for it confirms the date by the stars.
