Prince of the Alps - The Secrets of Nature
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
The red deer is he biggest and the most common species in Central Europe. It's still there because of its adaptability; when hunters intruded into their habitat and pushed them further back in the forest, the reed deer survived. This film will focus on the difference between the commonly confused red deer and roe and portrays the surrounding animal world of the red deer. It will also show dangers the deer is exposed to due to the reappearance of wolves and bears and an overbearing human presence.

The Alps are the centre jewel in the crown of Europe. Nature is beautiful... also on the paths. Skiing is fun.... also on the marked slopes. Wildlife watching is amazing... also through a binocular. Flowers are prettier... when you leave them in the meadow. I had the great fortune i had parents who understood that. Trust me, we were meticulously herded and constantly berated and for good reason. Walking in the Alps should happen with respect, not with the mind of a conquerer. I have no trinkets to prove i was ever there. Those with respect in their hearts will see the edelweis grow and never tell. Seeing one grow from under a rock on a 1 person rocky trail, directly on one of the most traveled paths in the Alps gives me the confidence this is how we tourists treat nature. I have seen it. None of us picked it. None of us tread on it. One single iconic flower. Ambassador of all rare flowers. Template for respectful behaviour towards the entire alpine ecology. We all know her. Regal and pure, emblem of fragility. She was not 5 centimeters high but never touched by the thousands and thousands of tourists, milling to the viewpoint over the valley. The path was etched out ever so slightly to the side, as a tiny mountaintop monument of reverence. The accumulation of one person at a time climbing, looking at it, gasping, smiling and stepping to the side. We go there because we love it. All of it. I really don't mind being lumped in with the few respectless tourists if it helps to teach one more person to tread lightly and to take that step to the side. In fact, i urge you to keep spreading awareness. We actually need you to make a documentary on responsible eco-tourism, please. I think it's a great idea. You are the experts on this subject!

Life is hard but beautiful......
-
DO NOT WATCH!! all the main characters freaking die tragically. its a really messed up documentary
-
A beautiful story--full of pathos, sad, but hopeful--sensitively narrated, wonderfully filmed. It also contains special messages (twice repeated!) for hikers and skiers. A good project that no sensation-seeking National Geographic production would dare emulate.
-
Good video BUT not gooc for little kids. Bambie's mom dies a lot and not pleasantly. De ravens gotta eat too.
-
Fascinating. And beautiful.

Can somebody explain to me why the car accident, the hunter targeting a deer and the deer falling down to his death scenes necessary?
-
How in the world do they get such great shots...
-
Thank you, who ever you are, for all those great movies.
Animals have it so tough in life though.
I find that so sad.
People always say:"Oh well, that's life" but that does not help me and the way I feel about it. -
45:16 guys at this part please tell me it is fake. They probably asked those guys to ski round the heard and cause prince alps mother to die, like this. :( who should i sue, the program or the idiots. 50% the program because they had cameras and shit ready to create a form of cinematic shot as if they knew it will happen, and the other half the two idiots which caused the heard to probably starve to death and led to the prince alps mums death of falling.
-
Seriously, How comes the animals stop in front of the car? I am interested, can a animal expert explain to me these. Hundreds of them run from two dogs, the list is endless of stupid! Someone who is an expert explain to me the idiotic animals behaviours.

Thanks

Car crash :(
Mom falling off cliff ;) -
If you find needless deaths, the ignorance of humanity and our disregard for our own world a bit less than appealing to watch in cold truth, this video ought to be skipped. However, if you are someone who thinks the world has much real nature left or you've never considered what letting your dog run in the woods might cause... watch this over and over until your eyes bleed. We can only do what one person can do... but we ALL have to do that. The education has to be there so this video is vital... I just wish it would have a warning for those of us who really try our best to do our part and know how bad it is... so I could not feel so powerless so constantly. In the end, the world will be fine... a lot of animals and aspects of our world will be gone due to our influence, but the world will rebuild itself.. it is us that are in danger. I just wish we wouldn't destroy so many other creatures along the way.
