Pen Collection - Part 1
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
A mini-review of a portion of my pen collection, with a primary focus on the fountain pens of course. --- ERRATA: I have called the 'cap' a barrel in this review; I was referring to the band in Sterling Silver at the base of the cap with an 'Eternity' design. In reality though, the barrel is the portion that attaches itself to the nib/feeder assembly. The 'barrel' of the Parker Duofold was removed to show the cartridge converter. Further to this, my friend Nigel has informed me that the diamond in the 100th Anniversary Montblanc pen is indeed a real diamond, however, it is the stone located on the clip of the Boheme that is synthetic. --- Part 2 will cover rest of the collection...and there might be a Part 3 as well!

Tell me your thought as the Latest Writer's Edition. I am interested in the Daniel Defoe for 2014 in the WP (PEN). This is the first time that they have used rhodium in the barrel and will be the first in using this material in the WP.
The cost has risen which is fine to reflect the use of this material. I am torn and wanted your advice as to this pen. I am also looking at the Rollerball in the Honore Balzac as it has a cap. What do you think? These are my choices and hope you could help me out.
Write when time permits and thank you for your video. -
very nice collection only " le creme de la creme " congratulation

This will vary from market to market; as of August it has a RRP in the 13,000 CHF range in Switzerland (~US$13,800/-).

What is the Street price for the rose gold Datejust?

Overtime, I use my Montegrappas less and less. Two reasons, one as you've guessed - the faux converter's limited ink capacity and both nibs are medium. I'm hoping to have these sent in at some point to have the nibs changed; not in any particular hurry though. I like the MGs for what they are though, their celluloid finish is just gorgeous.
-
Montegrappa makes decent pens but they have Bock of Heidelberg make their nibs. Cartridge/converter filling pens are a ripoff at those prices don't you think? Combine MB's piston & nib w MG's material & now you've got a real pen.
-
Both are medium nibs - I'm hoping to have the Bamboo Black replaced with a broad nib sometime soon.
-
What is the nib width in your montegrappas?
-
I agree, they should have 'channel' set the stone. That said, MB has taken the cheaper route which is party justified by the synthetic nature of the stone. It's smaller 'form factor' (nib retracted) does make it extremely easy to carry. I parted with my Boheme and all non-LE MBs sometime last year.

omg..how much money do you have? :O
-
From 1 to 6 can you order these pens from the best writing pen till the least.( the pens that you showed us in this review)
-
Can you do a separate review on the boheme
-
PM me your details if interested.
-
Oh yes. BTW I've got the Boheme listed for sale and a couple other non-LE MBs from my collection as it's growing!
-
Can u still put the cap on the boheme without retracting the nib
-
Since the cap threads onto a sterling silver section, those threads are fairly sharp. You would not want to damage the beautiful celluloid body. I would not recommend posting the pen if you could help it.
-
do the montegrappa pen post?
-
INDEED is correct. I've since let go of my DateJust and my collection now consists of a AP Royal Oak in steel and another in rose gold (both are the same 15300 model) and I've just added a Patek to my small collection. Check my channel page for the videos of all three watches. P.S. except for their 'Masterpiece' line and diamond crusted pieces a Day-date can be had for US$45k to 50k easily. I'd rather spend it on a Patek though.
-
I doubt its 50,000 rolex is considered like a mercedes, patek is like a buggatti, patek is around 150,000
-
what about the $50,000 watch?
