Ourtour.co.uk drive the Vrsic mountain pass, through the Julian Alps in Western Slovenia. Fortunately for us, we didn't do it in our 3 tonne motorhome, our friend Jon drove us over in his Golf. The pass was built by 10,000 Russian prisoners of war, and is also known as the Russian Road in their honour. The pass is closed for about 5 months of the year; we drove it in early June and were always far below the snowline. We saw tourist coaches drive it, and the road stays as two lanes all the way, with few unprotected drop-offs.
