Hey +craigwigglesworth, nice video, nice views.
I need to make a point about the helicopter though especially for non mountaineers that will or have watched your video:
I was wondering if have you eventually climbed it without using a helicopter? Going thru the Copland track like many long approaches in NZ makes this beautiful country unique and while the climbs here aren't very technical compared to the European Alps on average, what makes it challenging is the length and commitment required by these 3days or more trips with everything on the back, long approaches, remoteness etc. Not even going thru the whole ascent (even if using a heli to the bottom of the valley), is a weird approach to mountaineering.
We climbed mt Sefton 2 weeks ago thru the North Ridge starting at 700m by the Douglas rock hut and going to the summit very directly. It felt long and difficult made for probably the longest and most challenging route we ever undertook including the 4000der we climbed in the EU Alps, and was overall a fantastic climb I'll remember forever. I suppose that if a helicopter had dropped us anywhere above the hut that ridge would have lost it substance too.
I understand time is an issue really especially when working all week, and this makes a valid point, but making a video about Mt Sefton would perhaps require a full fledged ascent to be really interesting and show non alpinist what NZ mountaineering is made of.
Hope you take no offence at my long comment, I'm just trying to give my point of view on this long debate on NZ mountaineering. I think it's essential that non alpinists that watch this video are made aware of it.
Regards

Крутой ролик. Есть куда стремиться. Мы в августе поднялись на Elbrus. А товарищей наших с вертолетом эвакуировали. Это был полный ***))

the landing is on the Horace Walker Glacier to the west, but i agree with you. Intend to go back and do the walkin to biv above waterfall, day 2 to summit and back to biv, day 3 out.The flyin did buy us a day of good weather and allowed us to climb Thompson before the weather packed in; but agree with you...Sefton from the West in good style, is a quick light ascent from the coast.

i will post the day 3 out movie and you can decide for yourself - you will enjoy scotts creek, it has a great "big country" feel to it
