It's upsetting to see so many watch lovers turn their nose up at Montblanc. If you truly love watches, you should just appreciate that a large company like Montblanc is putting more time, money, and effort in creating beautiful and affordable watches. Everyone pointing out that they make pens, or they're not PP... DUH! Just because they make great pens doesn't mean they can't make great watches too. If they want to make a beautiful perpetual calender and price it for the masses, why are you complaining? They're never going to be trinity status (or even close), but that's okay. They're offering high quality, complicated watches for 1/10th of what you'd pay for with PP or AP. They won't have the same prestige of quality, but that's already represented by the price point. If you can afford a PP 5951 and would never consider a company like Montblanc, then good for you. I fell in love with watches when I first handled my godfather's Patek 3970 when I was 10 years old, so I understand the allure of prestige and top-quality... But I can still appreciate what Montblanc is doing and who they're targeting - they're not attempting to overtake the holy trinity, that's for sure. Watch the lastest "Talking Watches" with Fabrizio Sotti on Hodinkee's site or on YouTube. He owns grail PP's worth half a million, and still appreciates his Tudor Heritage Chrono "the same amount". He loves watches that speak to him and that are beautiful in different ways, but they all hold a place in his heart. He's got the right idea, love what you love because it's beautiful and makes you happy, not just because it's a certain brand name or is more prestigious.

Mont Blanc has some beauutiful watches especially their Nicolas Rieussec collection
-
There is no heritage in Montblanc watches compared to VC, AP, PPC and the like.

simple comment to all those who don't know.... mont blanc is a great brand for pens exactly. they FAIL as a watch maker because the movement they use in their watches is not IN HOUSE. they don't have their own movement. they use ETA

What a Bullshit is Mont Blanc a watchmaker
-
Not particularly impressed with the level of dial detail.
-
When I hear Montblanc I think about the pen and NOT the watch. Always going to buy a watch from only watch making company...
-
They should just stick to pens...
-
Montblanc will always be a pen company in my eyes.
