Excellent video. Thanks for posting. I have never tried the 146 but it looks interesting. I have a 149 and 144. I would love to try a 146. Thank you.

I believe your mic levels are a little sensitive to your lips. Drink some water or something.

How much does this pen weigh, in grams?
-
I've got the Messien in white porcelain and that has a metal section - that entire FP is just gorgeous but very cold to the touch, even more so due to the porcelain.
-
Oh, indeed. I think MB has pastic lined inside the SS barrel, hence their use of a plastic section as well. Also, they may have opted to keep the weight down a bit. Hmm, I wonder.
-
Due to the resin section there's also a small ink window; I doubt they could have accommodated that with an all metal pen. Personally, I prefer resin sections as metal sections tend to be slippery/cold.

As for experience, I'm loving the O3B on the 75th Anniv. 149 in particular as the nib has been tuned by mikeitwork. I do admit, I was pushing the rotation on the nib in that review quite a bit for this particular nib. My 'other' O3B 149 with a stock nib from Hamburg isn't as smooth as the mikeitwork nib and feel I may have to send a couple pens in for finer tuning.

Hi Robbie, good eye! Yes, I've got two 149s with OBBB's (signature nibs) - see my Flickr page, just Google for 'bsodmike flickr' and you'll find samples of my new 75th Anniversary 149. I also have a 149 with a OB nib and used to have a OB LeGrand but I sold that since I've reorganised the collection to comprise solely of LE/Special Ed and special pieces.

I've yet to hit thirty and I'd admit, that it's not too often that I'd find someone appreciating FPs. Those in my "age" group, just cast me as an eccentric being, but then again, I do not terribly care for the company of those of my age-group as I do not, generally at least, find them to be stimulating enough. That said, when you do run into someone with a shared appreciation be it pens, watches, etc. there's quite a bit to make for engaging conversation at least :)

"I wish other's shared our appreciation for fountain pens" - I've been using FPs since I was 12 in an ad-hoc manner up until I was 15 as I recall. In my younger days I stuck to Lamy and a couple Parkers my parents got me, but I received my first 149 from my late Father when I was 15, and that really set an impression on me. Since then, I've inked all my papers at University with that 149 and the other MBs I started adding during my University days.

I once found a lady at a visa-office looking for a pen and that morning I had a single 149 on me. I apologised stating I've only got a fountain pen, and if that'll do. She was gob-smack stunned by the nib on the 149 and very carefully set about filling in her form. Thankfully, she didn't use a lot of pressure, as more ball-point toters do. I'm not so sure that I'd be as keen to lend my FPs to anyone as I've seen the kind of damage ball point users tend to unleash on boutique testers.
-
Very nice...They do get better after you use them a bit! I wish other's shared our appreciation for fountain pens. I use mine all the time for what I do with work because I have to take a lot of notes on my clients needs. Unfortunately I have to hand them over a roller ball or ball point pen to sign anything...If I gave most people a fountain pen it would be like telling them to fly an airplane.

Hi pennfootball71- I've got an Eschenbach 10-15x loupe and the tines are perfect on this one. Mind you, this review was made about 2-years ago, and since then with use it's writing much better.
-
That is pretty! My MB is also a Broad Nib...I use it for signatures. You might want to check the tines they maybe off a tic...do you have a good 10x Triplet loop? Richard Binder sells a very high quality 10x one for a reasonable price of about $30.
-
Hah, quite true. I've got my O3B and B in their 149 pen stands on my desk; the OB and F sit inside my pen box for now. The B is my daily writer and fairs quite well on copy paper/moleskine diary-grade paper etc.
-
Haha...well it's all 'down hill' from here =) Wait till you get to try a OBBB on a 149... that's a Signature nib and oooh my..! I'm really liking having B nibs across my 149s...
-
I made that statement in comparison to their POA pens; 'cost' is always a relative term =) For example, one of my recent pieces is the MB Meissen Porcelain that retails closer to USD3,000/- Hmm, I think my 'cap' depends on my watch collecting interests at the time and if I *really* want the pen, although I think my cap is between US$3-5k (for now). I've spent as much on each of two FPs this year (Meissen & Agatha 4810); the Dumas was cheaper than expected.
-
Sure, will do. Glad you liked it.
-
Great pens...Thanks... Please take a look at mine.......

@oklahoma757 Oh, the G. Lalo Verge de France - well it's certainly got a thicker 'gsm' - grammes per square metre - a means of determining thickness of paper. It also has a certain finishing on one side of the paper, very similar to Conqueror that has the 'ridging'. I've only had good performance on this paper with B+ nibs.
