I had a 342 with EF flex nib, but sadly dropped it and smashed the barrel. I have the screwable nib unit, and despite buying several other 342s, none of the nibs unscrew. Do these nibs unscrew with a tool, or the screw nibs limited to certain 1950s versions? I

A 1950s pen will not be available in any stores, you would need to search around for a similar pen.
