Mont Blanc Solo Ascent - September 2015
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
I made an attempt to climb the Matterhorn via the Hornli Ridge with George Kashouh on 2 September 2015. We reached the Solvay Hut at 4,003m but bad weather forced a retreat. With poor weather forecast in Zermatt for the rest of the week I travelled alone to Chamonix, with the promise of a weather window on Mont Blanc (4,810m), the highest mountain in Western Europe. Climbing solo, I left the Tete Rousse refuge (3,200m) at 01:50 am. It was cold and windy high on the mountain with 40mph winds and windchill of -23 C. I reached the summit of of Mont Blanc (4,810m) on 5th September 2015 morning at 07:22. My time to summit and back to refuge was 8h 40m.

You had such a good weather mate. I went on the 3rd and it was indeed very cold. By the time I got to the top the sun was gone. I missed the sunrise. It must have been a spectacular view on such a clear day. Strange feeling to be alone on the summit, at least you had other climbers.
