Livescribe 3 Smartpen review: Android & iOS smart pen, finally!
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
Livescribe 3 review for Android and iOS. Livescribe smartpens have been around for a while. Originally, they were standalone devices with PC support, then they got smarter. Now, we have full mobile and tablet syncing in the Smartpen 3. Pairing over Bluetooth LE, the pen shares handwritten notes across up to four devices. These notes can be viewed through the app and shared out, either as PDFs or JPEG snippets. On top of that, you can even record audio and writing simultaneously using your Android or iOS device microphone. Ultimately, what this means is that Livescribe has made a very smart gadget on paper - but is it the best smartpen around and is it worth the £120+ asking price? Watch our full review and decide for yourself.

Thanks for your review! I would really like to see a comparison review for this Livescribe 3 vs the Neo Smartpen N2. I found this review very informative, and would like to see a similar review for the Neo Smartpen N2. thanks

I am shopping for a smartpen that uses normal paper and is compatible with Windows. Your recommendation?

Considering the change in ownership of the company do you still believe the team is committed to improving android functionality?
-
no android... tsk
-
can yo view it live on your phone while your writing

Hey great video. One question for you or anyone else, i recently started using evernote and love it. How dose using this pen compare to using the app? Can they be used together as well or is one a clear cut winner?

Hi there, I think you can export the pencasts and pages to OneNote directly? In that way, you can share images over WhatsApp, not so?
-
does it support monochrome printer ?
-
How would you compare this pen to the sky or echo? I have both. I like the sky as it automatically goes into evernote without me having to do anything. I am interested to know how you made an adjustment in writing now needing a phone and or tablet near by when you write.
Do you sync your phone to something else to capture and review your notes? You mentioned 4 devices, how does that work? -
Can I export an image of it to Word? Does it connect to a macbook Air?
-
Most people don't own a window's PC like yours. I look down on them and I don't need to explain why, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I've been using the Sky Wifi smartpen for 18 months. I really like it. I'm getting my Livescribe 3 in a few days. Reviewers are talking about a clicking sound. Do you notice this? And how is your ink supply? Reviewers say it stops writing within a few days. GREAT job on your video review!

Does it convert cursive handwriting as well as printing? Will any laserjet printer work or must it be color? I saw in Live Scribe that they recommend using a printer that is Adobe Postscript compatible - only a few of the very expensive printers have that feature. I have an HP LaserJet 300/400 but cannot figure out if it has this feature. Your comments are helpful. I don't want to invest in a pen and have to buy reams of expensive paper. My work requires significant writing.

should we buy this one or wait for the next version, since this was issued almost a year ago ?
-
I really do hope it comes out for windows phone and PC.

I use a normal pen and paper. Then I scan it with an OCR app and the whole thing is PDFable, PNGable and it lives in my notes app.
I really cannot see the value of lightscribe. -
This is like magic! Great video!

So what's the point in having a digital copy of your notes? I could see something like this being useful if it converted your writing into plain text because then you could search through your notes very easily. But having pictures/PDF of your notes doesn't seem that useful if you're going to be keeping the physical notebook around.
-
is it rigid/sturdy? i mean i let my pen drop 4 times a day maybe would be a waste

I am developing a new online Associates Degree program at a community college and this pen will be the primary form of communication along with short cell phone videos.
