This video was compiled by Jill Homer from GoPro footage filmed by Beat Jegerlehner. A short glimpse into the other race around Mont Blanc. La Petite Trotte à Léon, the lesser-known big brother to the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, circumnavigates the highest mountain in the Alps on a route that remains far from the beaten track. This 300-kilometer (185 miles) loop with 24,000 meters (80,000 feet) of climbing takes place on "paths sometimes difficult, and sometimes non-existent." The course isn't marked, and runners must rely on GPS navigation and maps to find their way. Runners participate in teams of two or three, and are required to remain with their team at all times for safety reasons. ,Team "Too Dumb to Quit," is the only American team to finish the 2013 PTL.
