Japan mountain road 日本山岳道路 - softypapa adventures
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
Here's a road so off the beaten track it doesn't even appear on maps. I only discovered the road after blundering into it accidentally while trying to find my way around a hazardous waterfall in a deep gorge on the fringe of the Japan Southern Alps. Having come upon the road in the middle I had no idea where either direction might go and thus it took me two subsequent visits before I could determine that the road led to a dead-end at the entrance to a high-elevation canyon which may have once been a route between mountain villages in the days before modern roads and automobiles. On this trip we drive along the length of the road from where in junctures with another farm road to the very end at the start of the abandoned mountain trail. ---- My name is Kurt Bell and I am delighted that you have taken some time to share a little of the experience of life with me. I'm available on social media at the links below and can be reached via email at dinnerbytheriver@gmail.com Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/softypapa Find me on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/LylesBrother On Google+ https://plus.google.com/u/0/109050782163582511388/posts Instagram: http://instagram.com/softypapa LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/kurt-bell/b/416/754 My blog: http://softypapa.wordpress.com ---- THE PATH OF WILDNESS The Path of Wildness is easy to find The course of a stream Leaves blown in the wind A beast's track through the brush And the direction of our first inclination The Path of Wildness is an answer and response to a prescribed way of life which may leave some individuals with a sense that their living is little more than a series of pre-determined, step-like episodes between birth and death. The stages of living between these events: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood and senior are themselves natural and in accord with the needs of the species and most individuals. Many find their satisfaction in living this course and to these individuals I have little or nothing to say. Others though long for something more; something innate, genetic and seemingly calling. Adventure and change can give a degree of satisfaction and relief yet even these may seem too tame. To those who feel drawn to something beyond the entertainment and stimulation of senses I offer a walk along The Path of Wildness. Don't bother penciling the event in your schedule, preparing a pack with goodies and supplies or even inviting a friend along, for this experience is along the course of your first inclination and you must surely always go alone. -
I'd be hauling but up the road in my 93 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo knowing I've put her through worse.
-
this is cool... good job sir
i realy like it -
What prefecture were you driving in? What towns are nearby? I'd like to know so as to follow your driving with Google Earth.
-
Based on my experiences of the same sorts of roads in England, one of you just stops and goes off to the side to let the other one past. Usually there's at least enough room for that, if not, you reverse until there's a suitable spot.
-
The roads are so small. What happens if another car is coming from the opposite direction?
-
Horseflies : "Hey you stranger ! What you are ? Let me bite you to know what you are made of lol!" Nice video , but I recommend you to buy/rent an suv :)
-
Are these horseflies agressive? Or are they like bees who only attack you when you attack them. I'm scared ヽ(゚Д゚)ノ
-
こういう酷道を走るの好きです。
-
have you followed the trail into the forest yet?
-
Man, those horseflies are scary! The European wasps we get in the UK scare me enough when they buzz around me but I think those Japanese horseflies would have me running for my life! God knows how I'd react to Asian giant hornets :-/
-
So you live in Japan..? That would seem really cool. :) Just a complete different culture to learn from. I love so many things about Japan, I'd love to go there someday!
-
What kind of camera do you use?
-
Man, you need a Land Cruiser or Safari for such travel, video is great, thanks!
-
This is great, seeing rural Japan. I really love it how even though the road is completely off the map there are still steel guard rails around the corners on the road, and the road itself is still partially concreted. This is fantastic, really
