Ink Review: MontBlanc Permanent Blue Ink
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
Here I review an ink by MontBlanc, by the title of "Permanent Blue" (I can say; I am impressed! But there's also something kinda weird going on in here...). Here-in may be found my own thoughts and opinions on the matter, as well as some test results I have for (among other factors) water-resistance on Clairefontaine, Rhodia, Copier Paper, Mead Notebook Paper, Tomoe River Paper, and Moleskine papers, and using an A.G. Spalding & Bros. pen with a (fine-ish) Medium nib as pen a for these tests/experiments.

Disclosure, as an avid proponent of this ink, I myself wouldn't put it in a Mont Blanc pen (I don't have one anyway but that's besides the point). The ink is a dream, the only cost to it is that it will leave pigment deposits on the nib over time (but this is easily remedied with a thoroughly cleaning - it has also NEVER clogged my feed, even after weeks of non-use, and it starts up again immediately. As I have said in other comments below, you get a harder start from leaving you pen uncapped (although this only requires a line or two to restart), than from leaving the pen unused for an extended period. The water/liquid resistancy is PAR EXCELLENCE. An A+++ ink.

I'm having trouble finding verification online at all - I'm super interested in the Montblanc permanent blue (was going to purchase) then I got worried it was an Iron Gall ink, can you verify? What is your experience with Iron Gall inks?

Great review. This is my favorite ink of all time, I'm glad you reviewed it!. I think it's fantastic and very well behaved, with a very wet nib it's an extremely deep and rich blue ink, I love it!!!

Oooo that's going to stain the inside of your pen, look at how it sticks to your sample bottle. At least baystate blue has directions to cleaning.
You wouldn't stop shaking it but I think it sticks like a champ at least. -
its witchcraft is that , magical ink
