DISCLAIMER: I discuss a couple of pointers to help you identify fake (counterfeit, 'knockoff', imitation) Montblancs . I am NOT a Montblanc expert, but I consider all the information provided here to be accurate, and a service to the pen community. However, I cannot and will not be held responsible for purchasing pens that turn out to be counterfeits, even after using the information provided in this video.

i have a parker pen bold point pen i dont know if is fake or not

I was also told that the 145 "Classique" Meisterstuck also has a converter, and is not a piston fill pen. I am actually in the process of transacting with one such pen, and the underside of this pen does not have Pix on it. It says "Made in Germany" then under it "Metal" or something like that. I then went to a Mont Blanc store and looked at their Classique, and it also says "Made In Germany" but no "Metal". I have heard that there are variations in what they write on the pen, and after posting several pictures, most Fountain Pen Network people seem to think that the 145 is legitimate.

Hello,
Sbrebrown,
I have watched many of your videos, and I assume that I am very grateful to learn a lot from what I have seen and read in some of your posts you mentioned that you can spend a wax pen of mont blanc pens to prevent stains and possible scratches could I say what this product recently inherited a mont blanc 149 which was my grandfather, even I see the mont blanc of the united Germany or states is a necessary adjustments in the pen, I live in Brazil and do not know if here would one nibmeister -
They comme with a converter but is it possible to put some standard cartridges or not ?

Hello sir, I first watched this video to learn more about my pen. This isn't related much, but I really like your voice ^_^

Hello, My dad got a Montblanc Fountain pen for his birthday and asked me to sell it. It is a 14K gold 585 pen. I am trying to sell it on ebay but I don't really now whats the value of it...
If somebody knows please help. Thank you. -
Close but slightly misleading - to the detriment of real MB 144's out there! I've an original 144 fountain pen purchased in 1996. It is slip on, there's no number on the band (as the 144 model is the slimmest of the meisterstuck range so less space on the band) and there is no "pix" on the underside of the clip. It takes cartridges and has a converter with 'Montblanc Germany' stamped on a gold band.

Hi, great video, very informative! I have the opportunity to buy a Montblanc 149 Never Used at 300€, F nib, without warranty or receipt. I can check it in person and look for the signs you said in the video. Do you think it will be enough to tell if it is original? And is it a great value, considering the lack of warranty? Thanks

It is a copy of the MB 144. A real 144 has a slip on cap so the fact that the fake also has a slip on cap does not help...

The nib on my Mont Blanc 149 received as gift in 1975 is marked "18C" rather than 18K" indicating the gold content. Is this pen a potential fake or did Mont Blanc change their way of describing the designation of the gold content? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Parker Sonnet's are another favourite of the scammers. I found t hat one out the hard way...

the 144 is snap on (not screw)
the screw one is the 145 or chopin -
Mont Blanc 149 without a serial number does not necessarily mean it is a fake as the serial number was introduced only after 1991 when the replica market hit on the Mont Blanc pens. So, the lack of serial number is NOT a sign that a pen is a fake, it could just as well be a very valuable example of the vintage Mont Blancs that are no longer being produced, and hence rather precious find. Same goes for the "pix" stamp.
I would say, if you don't see a S/N and a "pix", and skip the pen because of that - you, as a non "monblanc expert", could be missing out on a rare, vintage piece of something that will never be produced again by the company. -
what's the intro song

Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it
I am about to place my Montblanc fountain pen on Ebay. I know it's genuine as it was a gift from my wife in 1996. However, I'm not sure of the model number.
With the cap on it measures 142 mm and 13mm diameter across the barrel just below the cap.
The cap has no model number on it, just Montblanc Meisterstuck with two //in a box after the name.
The filling method is a screw piston.
The serial number is 53525
Can you tell me which model it is please? -
Hello, thanks a lot for your videos!
Was wondering if you have any experience with online shop http://www.jomashop.com/mont-blanc.html ? Legitimate? Too good to be true? Thanks again. -
If you love your fakes too then read this. All Montblanc do is polish it to get that texture. Get your eye glasses lense cloth and some "car polish", ta daa same smooth ceramic texture as Montblanc! If your crazy you can use "car wax" on your fake after you polish it for a better protection and feel. You can treat your fakes with respect too, lol. Stop laughing at me and try it.

I think this video is great and thank you for sharing all this knowledge. It has helped me a lot. I think that the pen I got was an oldie, as it passed all the tests except for the engraving on the clip, but I knew it was older than 2000.

Call Mont Blanc 1-800 number and their on holiday so I took a closer look and found a model number 8482 and it was sold on June 15, 2011 at a Mont Blanc Boutique. I found this info on back of service guide. I looked up the model on their website and Found that it's a Starwalker platinum resin fountain pen. MSRP of $560.00 and is no longer available on their website. Best find to date. Great way to start a new year.

I just found a Mont Blanc for $3 at my local thrift store. It looks and feels legit. It came with original box and service guide. It does have a serial number that is either xl2207992 or xu2207992 because of the very small lettering I can't be sure of second letter. Is their a way I can send you pics to get your opinion. Thanks.
