With its 2753 m (9032 ft) Jôf di Montasio is the second highest peak in the Julian Alps. We hiked it in August 2013. The ascend route was through Findenegg Couloir and we descended over the Pipan's Ladder. The ascend was pretty challenging, since it is very exposed to falling rocks and most of the route required climbing. For the end of the hike we went to cool of to the Lago del Predil. Helmet is strongly recommended for the entire route and I would not recommend it for anybody scared of heights, especially the Findenegg Couloir route, since it's not a via ferrata, but a grade III climbing.
