Hannibal goes to the Alps

In Search of Hannibal pre-order page: https://in-search-of-hannibal-a-graphic-novel.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders Crossing the Alps with an army in bad weather was quite a feat, but the trouble Hannibal had even getting to the Alps in the first place often gets forgotten. Spanish, Celts, and Romans all tried to stop him getting that far. Stades, furlongs, roman miles, english miles, feet, yards, stonethrows, leagues...
Any wonder most of the word just said: "sod it, we go metric...."? -
African armies had no more than a few hundred elephants in any battle in ancient times. India continued to use vast elephant armies until the 18th Century. Imagine armies with thousands of elephants clashing on the field, some of them in armour. The last of the Great Mughals, Aurangzeb, had 30,000 elephants in his army for war and transport as well as cannon and muskets.

cant elephants swim ?

Did you ruin a tent?

I thought elephants were good swimmers. Maybe not tamed elephants? Or do they not like rivers?
Edit: Oh yeah most of them swam. -
As an Italian, it is utterly painful to hear Scipio pronounced as "Skipio" instead of "Shipio", but great video, truly enlightning

Alexander, as well as his generals, fought in India, against elephants. Fellow named Porus was his last opponent there and he had elephants in his army.

0:17 War Elephants weren't militarily significant? What the fuck are you on about?
Pyrrhus kept fighting the Roman Empire and turned several battles despite being outnumbered thanks to his 20 Elephants.
The Seleucid Empire was maintained because of its 500 Elephants (and because Seleucius was a badass i guess).
War Elephants used to be incredibly powerful wildcards in any battle they showed up in.
8:46 It is actually highly likely and at least partly evidenced that Hannibals Elephants were either a subspecies of the asien Elephant known as "Syrian Elephants" or "African Forest Elephants" , imported from India, or descendants of the Indian Elephants that were sold by the Seleucids along with Indian Trainers. -
This is slightly off-topic, but could you please make a video on the Celts that separates facts from what the Romans made up about them?

Hello brits people ! i kinda sense some tension on this channel towards french people and France in general. Is it some inside jock i wasn't initiated to ? Or Is it because we invaded England and influence your language/culture more than you influenced ours ? I'm asking a question here because Frenchpeople don't really give a fuck about brits nowadays... It's not really a mutual feeling here. Or is it because England wouldn't be what it is if the Normands didn't build the fondation of England in the first place ? Oh ! And we dominated you for 3 centuries right ? (even if you guys actually indeed benefited from this cultural and political domination ( am i too arrogant right now ? Well lindyBEIGE-another french word- sure has a reason for so much passive agressive bullshit). Ok.... Come on guys, it was a long time ok ? Let's be friendly now ;) et's talk about war in peace... (plus Napoleon was taller than the average men of his time you fucking cunts ! yea that's right i said it).

A long way to go before realizing elephants are great swimmers.
