Gran Paradiso via Rifugio Chabod Juli 2016 I Seven European Summits

The Gran Paradiso was the third mountain of our Seven European Summits 2016 Project. We climbed the mountain from Pravieux (Aostavalley above Valsavarenche) via the Rifugio Chabod on 2nd/3rd July 2016 during perfect conditions. :-) The Gran Paradiso is with 4061m the highest mountain that's entirely base is within Italian territory. Located near the boarder of France, it is part of the Graian Alps. We chose the less crowded Northern Route via the Rifugio Chabod, which has a more versatile landscpae and inctact glacier than the "normal route" via Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II. It was the perfect acclimatising tour for the Dufourspitze and Mont Blanc as it is never technically difficult or dangerous. We had sun and a crystal clear sky, but in some higher places strong winds up to 50Kn (as you can see in the video)!
