Chamonix is is a year round mountain destination. From Les Praz village to the Flégère, 1894 m, you will discover two south-facing areas with far-reaching views over the Mont Blanc range. This site represents the departure points for some great classical hikes leading to magnificent mountain lakes. Facing due south and looking onto Mont Blanc, the La Flégère site is the departure point for classic grande randonnée major hikes to magnificent mountain lakes. From Les Praz village, the cable car glides over Chamonix golf course and takes you to the La Flégère site at an altitude of 1,877m. If you want to go higher, a chair lift takes you to the Index, at an altitude of 2,595m. Hill-walking paths to Lac Blanc, Les Chéserys lakes, etc., where you can observe the medium-altitude wildlife, since the Brévent - Flégère area is in the large Aiguilles Rouges range, a natural conservation area.
