Selkirk Mountain Experience has built in 1985 its first alpine chalet, the Durrand Glacier Chalet. Located on top of a scenic know at tree-line, at the south-westerly end of the Durrand Glacier. In 1988 a second high alpine chalet has been built, in the middle of the large glaciated amphitheatre of the upper Dismal Glacier in the Mt. Moloch area (the Mt. Moloch Chalet, elev. 2205 m). Over the many years this charming chalet was used as a satellite hut (the little hut on a glacier), while the Durrand Glacier Chalet was the main chalet, where all Selkirk Mountain Experience guests, in winter and summer; started and ended their skiing, hiking or mountaineering weeks. During the summer of 2014 Selkirk Mountain Experience has built a third alpine chalet, the Empire Lake Chalet, elevation 2118 meter. Located in the center of the scenic Forbidden Glacier - North Face Glacier and Philharmonic Glacier area. The Durrand Glacier Chalet is today still the main chalet, where all winter and summer guests (skiing, hiking and mountaineering) start their alpine vacation with Selkirk Mountain Experience. During the week the guests can adventure trips to one of the two satellite huts (Mt. Moloch Chalet of Empire Lake Chalet) ..... or )of-course) to both hut if the weather is good. In the winter the combination of all three alpine chalets and the glaciated large terrain is best suited for a Canadian Haute Route. www.selkirkexperience.com
