I just watched a commercial about mountains, now I'm listening to music about mountains.

I usually ignore this one because of the ground version but it's still a really great track. I'm glad I heard it again.

You can dream when your hear this...

This makes me think of Sheila from Spyro '3'

alot of people prefer the ground theme, but if i were to be honest, i prefer the mountain theme. i can dig darker themes but upbeat is where it's at for me. but then again, maybe it just ain't right to pick a favorite because they're meant to be together due to them being in the same level, not apart. heh, both fitting and funny how i say that when my icon features 2 characters that are also meant to be together.

Sega should follow Nintendo's example and have Masato Nakamura compose for the next Sonic game!

The part at 1:19 definitely has a classical feel to it...I actually suspect it's a straight sample of something, but I can't place it.

Ground version is pretty great but I love this theme just as much.

So, is it just me, or does "Tropical Freeze" sound more like something that you would order at a Caribbean themed bar somewhere?
-
I like this ALMOST as much as the ground version. It's still got quite an atmospheric touch. It's just more upbeat and in the end fits the setting very well!
Another amazing track from world 2! -
I'm having a pretty shitty day right now, but this song came into my head and started cheering me up. So here I am listening to it.

QUE MARAVILLA DE MUSICA, POR DIOS, NO LA PUEDO DEJAR DE ESCUCHAR.

If you know anything about music you should recognize that this track is BADASS.

I don't understand why the general opinion is that the ground version is much superior to this one. I feel they both convey the emotion they're going for.
The ground version gives a sense of foreboding, but at the same time mystery and struggle. You are climbing this dangerous mountain after all.
The mountain version gives you a sense of victory, of success and happiness. You are above the dark and forboding clouds you saw moments ago. Your goal is within reach now, you are in the home turf of the owls. At the same time the chimes reflect the beauty of the scenery DK is witnessing. And the bouncy bass is just a perfect analogy for the balloons you're traversing. Just my thoughts. -
Does the beginning remind anyone else of Mother 3?

I wonder if this music was screened for individuals that had no idea it was from a video game. I have a feeling they would think it was composed by a brilliant composer. And they’d be right.
