The MV Doña Paz was a Philippine-registered passenger ferry that sank after colliding with the MT Vector on December 20, 1987. With an estimated death toll of 4,386 people, the collision resulted in the deadliest peacetime maritime disaster in history. Doña Paz was traveling from Leyte island to the Philippine capital of Manila.

Not sure if I can bear to watch this - I'm not squeamish but I know what I'm going to hear - the ferry owners and the captain did not follow safety procedures, there was improperly and inadequately trained fire fighting capability, the crew had no proper leadership from the captain and his officers, safety laws were never enforced, there were no fire drills, no equipment and no safety inspections. Yes?

What's ironic is that they call this Asia's Titanic. But:
Titanic: Hit by iceberg, sank into freezing waters(All-Time Low).
Doña Paź: Hit MT Vector, caught on fire, sank into fiery, shark-infested waters(This Girl In On Fire). -
8000 gallons = 30.24 m3, in other words the small tanker was almost. emty.

Had the crew of the Vector used some sense and at least tried to steer clear off the Dona Paz this would've been avoided.

The thing which amazes me the most is why neither of the ship had a radar. if At least one of the two vessel had a radar this incident would never had happened..!!!

Yup. I have to agree about the sinking of MV Wilhelm Gustloff in 1945 as a terrible disaster and even worse in terms of casualties. But that was during World War II and the ship was full of German evacuees which made them a target of the soviet sub which sunk it. The Dona Paz disaster is known as the Worst Maritime Disaster "during peacetime" so the video is still accurate.

Worst maritime disaster is when those soviet fucks sank a German passenger vessel full with mostly women and children aboard killing around 9,400. I really wish I could get my hands on the crew of that soviet sub. Because I would make hell seem like heaven to them.

These poor people. I feel so sorry for them. They jumped from a burning ship in hopes of freedom only to find the water below them on fire. All those poor children. Sad. So very, very sad.
