Climbing Mont Blanc. Was it worth it?
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
This is a photographic account of my ascent of Mont Blanc. It took two days and was the hardest climb iv'e done. I'm not really a mountaineer I just like walking. The music is Nightwish's Sleeping Sun and Beethovens' Moonlight Sonata. I hope you like it.

Thanks for making us read eight minutes of text on the screen with no video footage (on a video site).

Is the route marked or worn enough to find the route easily with Just a map? My good friend and I are planning on climbing it this summer, but do not want to hire a guide. I have done a few alpine climbs and some rock climbing and feel good about my abilities and knowledge of climbing and glacier travel. Would you feel the path is easy to find and follow?

When did you go? Not much snow!

Contrary to the caption on one of the photos here, camping is not generally prohibited in the French mountains. There are restrictions in the national parks (e.g., the Vanoise), but the general rule is that overnight camping is allowed. People bivouac, for example, just above the Refuge du Goûter.

Did you go up with only your family and friends knowing, or did you go up there in a "Climb Mont Blanc Program", I'd like to know since I have hopes of going there one day :)

1:05 ???? Where is this number from? Every year 300 people are killed??? I read: "Jedes Jahr gibt es durchschnittlich 40 Tote und 150 Verletzte."

you said that it wasn't worth it, why so?

Thank you for the response. I had seen pictures of erected tents on the mountain before, but was not aware of the French laws. Very good idea not to enforce this one.

Is there any particular time of the year when the most deaths occur? Why do you suppose that the French don't allow tents to be used? Thank you for taking me to the summit. :)
