AUSTRIA, crossing a 7Km tunnel under the Austrian Alps (Tauern Tunnel), very intense images

Austria,Österreich: Let's cross by car the Tauern Tunnel which is a 6,546 meter long road tunnel of the Tauern motorway A10. It is, together with the Katschberg Tunnel an important part of the route from Villach to Salzburg and one of the busiest road tunnels in Austria. I have videotaped the crossing of the tunnel as my car was passing during my trip from Salzburg (Austria) to Trieste (Italy). Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com

Lovely video of your driving through the Tauern Tunnel (6,546 meters long ) from Villach Trieste (Italy)through to Saltzburg Austria. It was pleasant watching you drive through this tunnel because the tunnel is well lit through the entire 7 km, and most importantly the colour of the lights constantly change as you pass through it, so that you do not
get dazed seeing the same colour lights throughout the tunnel length.
This keeps you focused on your driving .
Here in Canada most of the tunnels are without any lighting at all so that by the time you clear the entire tunnel length you eyes get tired and blinded from the darkness of the tunnel, and when you reach the other end and reach the daylight you become blinded
by the bright sunshine outdoors.
For the few tunnels that have lights installed in them, the lights are all the same white colour and the lighting seems to all lead in a straight line from the beginning to the end of the tunnel which actually hypnotizes the driver driving through the tunnel. Here in Canada the only diversion a driver gets is when the driver passes through a section where the
lights have burnt out, and have not been replaced. The danger of this is that the driver in
many instances cannot even see where they are driving because all the driver has is the
same colour walls on both sides of the tunnel, and most of these tunnels are not even
painted with different colours on opposite sides of the tunnel to provide a diversion for the driver.
In the United States the Chesapeake Tunnel in Virginia has lighting throughout the tunnel, but again there is no coloured lighting to provide a diversion for the driver while the driver is driving through the tunnel. The only diversion that I know of would be the toll booths at
either end of the tunnel.
The Tauern Tunnel looks like it is one of the safest tunnels to drive through because of
the multi couloured lighting and patterns throughout the tunnel.
Excellent video ! -
I went through there on my way from Salzburg to Ljubljana.

Vic...wow ....that makes the Holland and Lincoln tunnels to be puny by comparison...LOL
