Are We Seeing the New Ice Age ?
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
An ice age, or more precisely, a glacial age, is a period of long-term reduction in the temperature of the Earth’s surface and atmosphere, resulting in the presence or expansion of continental ice sheets, polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers. Within a long-term ice age, individual pulses of cold climate are termed “glacial periods” (or alternatively “glacials” or “glaciations” or colloquially as “ice age”), and intermittent warm periods are called “interglacials”. Glaciologically, ice age implies the presence of extensive ice sheets in the northern and southern hemispheres. By this definition, we are still in the ice age that began 2.6 million years ago at the start of the Pleistocene epoch, because the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets still exist. Researcher Robert Felix speaks about climate and the possibility we could be heading into an ice age. According to a study, the Himalayas have lost no ice in the last 10 years, and glaciers are growing in areas such as Mount Everest, he noted. Ice age cycles occur around every 11,500 years, and one sign that one is impending is increased volcanic activity, particularly underwater, he stated. He is lying. 40 billion tons of glacier ice lost since 1994. Google it.

Look at maps of the last glacial period or the last glacial maximum. If you can see around what we've always been told you'll notice two things: 1) The extent isn't all that great and 2) The center of glaciation isn't anywhere near the north pole. What we know as the last ice age was simply a time when the Earth's polar axis sat in a different location. Beringia wasn't under ice and eastern Siberia wasn't under ice. Northern Europe and Greenland were the only places it extended to the Arctic ocean. We are currently in a polar shift which is throwing the Earth out of balance which causes a wobble in our rotation which in turn is causing the Earth to heat up. It is also causing our weather patterns to run helter skelter. There isn't a new Ice Age coming except in the context of who falls inside the polar regions. Ice Ages are outdated information.

The Franz Joseph Glacier has always been advancing and retreating this proves nothing, and if a glacier is advancing more rapidly than usual, this can mean that it is melting, because the melt water sinks down through cracks in the ice and melts and lubricates the base speeding it's progress downhill. The web sites on satelite imaged sea level topography do NOT show sea levels dropping. Don't take my word for it check it out yourself.

CO2 has very little influence on temperature in the long run, I see it as the gas of life (Plant Food) in which the earth is currently devoid of.

Do you are saying this guy isn't really a scientist?

Carolina bays look roughly like the kind of electric phenomenon that Wallace Thornhill sees on Mars. He believes that an interplanetary electronic interaction caused these and that they resemble electric processes rather than craters that caused them. These are reproducible in the lab. Anode and cathode discharges appear differently. The 'craters' often overlap with smaller ones on the borders of larger ones. They are often linear. In the center are often blisters as can also be seen on the tip of lightening rods after being hit....fulgarites if I remember correctly.
These bays have some of the characteristics of these Martian and cometary findings.
I'm only getting interested in these possibilities but 'electric universe' deserves more thought. -
Why on Earth are large corporations doing Carbon Capture and Storage ? They must want to make the Earth even colder ?
Wind turbines won't give any electricity when the blades are frozen solid under many feet of ice.
Now is the time to be prepared for an ice age. -
WE therefore should be burning more fossil fuels to add more CO2 and keep some of the suns heat we receive. Just the opposite of the proven liars or political hacks in DC.

Snow. In June.
The National Weather Service is forecasting up to two inches of snow in parts of the Adirondacks in New York and the Green Mountains in Vermont, a summer flurry that could last from Wednesday night into Thursday.
“It’s certainly not normal,” Curt Stager, professor of natural sciences at Paul Smith’s College in the Adirondacks, said. “You don’t expect to dress for winter when you’re hiking in June.” -
You just can't trust govt stats anymore. The govt has lost all credibility.

Old info & globally 98% are melting at high rates of retreat, and at 3-ppm/year no way to cool the planet having 400-ppm CO2 until that's below 245-ppm after the end of the interglacial astronomically in about 1500-years.that forcing to have taken over 15k-years to where CO2 drops to below 200-ppm into a full glacial at 180-ppm.
The Pleistocene average was 1-ppm/1000-years, big jump up after the last ice-age 1-ppm/180-years at 3-ppm/year we are in what is called an "excursion" in paleontology matching or exceeding the PETM proven by ocean acidification 10-times greater than that event.
The reason is stuffing enough carbon in a short enough time means if we stop emissions today nothing happens because th oceans will out-gas that excess CO2 for a couple of centuries is how the planet works.
There are no slider switches ... just daily emissions add up over the years a lot faster than volcanism can provide it, the heating part of the PETM took 50,000-years we did it in 260-years, get it? -
Date on this says it is published on 10/27/15. Yet there is internal stuff predicated for the near future of 2014 (at about 94 min). Is this an old interview, with that much dated information?

Nature is unpredictable as was shown by UNBIASED SCIENTIFIC ARCHEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS IN THE PAST CONCERNING CLIMATE CHANGES. THE SHORTEST TRANSITION PERIOD IS 1 WEEK! AND THE LONGEST IF BETWEEN 1 TO 2 CENTURIES WITH FLUCTUATIONS OF EXTREME HEAT AND COLD, FLOODS AND DROUGHTS AND THEN WHAM THE FULL IMPACT OF THE ICE AGE HITS EVERYBODY. The question is, how many nations are prepared with stockpiles of the necessary logistics and with the necessary re-engineered infrastructure and technostructure. Russia is more than well prepared for we have seen many of our Siberian arctic and sub-arctic villages overwhelm with glacial ice movements and by ever increasing piling up of snow that has crushed them like so much tooth picks.

It doesn't seem that confusing. The addition of co2 a greenhouse gas was warming the earth and causing glacial melt as well as a defrosting of the arctic. We are now about to enter something called a reduced output of sunlight, or the Maunder minimum. That will cause cooling. I've yuet to see a model that predicts what the net effect of these two factors is. or will be over the next 30-40 years. I've also yet to see any sensible analysis that indicates that we are entering another long period (10,000 years or more)of glaciation. What causes these periods does not seem to be well understood. However the switchover seems to happen very rapidly, perhaps less than 10 years.
It seems, whether the earth gets hotter or colder, the intelligent thing to do would be for governments to start raising, and stockpiling large reserves of food. This is entirely feasible to do, should it be desired by the public. However the public has the attention span of a gnat, and is perpetually confused by differing information.
Food production will be a major issue even in a Maunder Minimum.
Probably the worst scenario would be if Yellowstone blew, while we entered a Maunder Minimum. That would or should trigger major glaciation because in the short term the earth would receive sufficient ice and snow cover to reflect a good deal of whatever sunlight was incoming.
In any event, grain production in the U.S. , Canada, and in Eurasia would be severely curtailed. I'm talking about wheat and corn production primarily. There would also for all practical purposes end production of beef and pork, and severely curtail poultry.
This would occur during some years of a Maunder Minimum.
The net effect would be a mass migration of humanity southward, accompanied by starvation, a loss of public order, and eventually cannibalism. Pretty grim.
Of all the scenarios, the most likely seems to be the Maunder Minimum. It seems to be best supported by scientific evidence, and relatively short term periodicity.
In terms of earth's tilt, and that being the cause of an ice age, it's difficult to see why it would make much difference since the total insolation of the earth should remain constant no matter which way the axis of rotation . -
