We decided to spend our time in the Apennine Mountains 2 kms away from the town of Barga in an olive farm surrounded of acacia and chestnut woods. We walk to the small village of Sommocolonia where I can take this shot of Barga at dusk. Sommocolonia to the Romans meant "the colony at the summit," and this village of fewer than 50 residents currently was indeed founded by the Romans and today is nothing more than a few houses and a church. From its Church I am able to get this nice perspective of the beautiful Barga and the green Apennine mountains. Barga is an old hilltop village around 12 kms south of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, is one of those slow Tuscan hilltop towns, with a good looking Duomo (Cathedral)
