Very illustrative video, thanks for posting.

I bought a Jagged Peak 3 for a hike to Big Bend's South Rim this past January (2014). Very happy so far. Sleeping in the tent were my two sons and myself. I'm 6'3" 215 lbs. and my sons are both pretty good sized teenagers and there was plenty of sleeping room for us. We did have to store our packs and boots in the two vestibules but they were plenty roomy to hold all of our stuff. We even cooked our evening meal in the tent since the temperature had dropped into the 20s.
The Jagged Peak has a lot of ventilation points but they are all pretty much fully closeable. I haven't use it in warm weather yet but I think that with all of the vents open it would be pretty good in the summer too.
ddhuber mentioned the Alps Extreme 3. Although I haven't camped in the Extreme 3, it is obviously a three season tent (vents not closeable). The Jagged Peak is very much a four season tent and I think that if you're planning to camp in cold temps you won't regret having the Jagged Peak instead of the Extreme. -
Thank you for this vid

The floor it was surprisingly thin. I kind of forgot how thin it was so you asked a question I haven't had any problems with it yet but it is definitely a weak point of the tent.
-
I've heard the floors aren't very sturdy. How well do you think it will hold up?

Just ordered one thanks to this review

yes it has guidelines. You don't need to use them unless you are in windy, rainy, or snowy conditions though.
-
don't know. I haven't had it out in the snow--only in frost conditions. It has some thick poles that should allow it to stand up to heavy snow loads.
-
The two lower tabs, below each window are for staking out the fly. When these are staked out, it helps keep water off of the inner tent and allows the fly to do its job. Helps keep the fly from flapping around a bunch during high winds.

I used the tent again this weekend. High winds and lots of rain. My friends tent blew away...about a 100 yards, set up right next to mine. It held up great in the wind..Poles and tent material both. There was a lot of rain! The fly did a pretty good job of keeping out the rain. If I would have had the fly staked out better with better stakes, I would have been completly dry. I would buy this tent again. And am going to buy some better stakes before I use it again.

I have had a chance to use the tent again the last two weekends and the tent has performed very well. I used it both with and without the fly. Easy to set up, great ventilation, lots of room for two people and their gear. The best tent I have every had at a great price.

It does have guidelines. My video shows two tabs for attaching guidelines...one below the window and one above the window. If you wanted to vent the window I guess you would use the lower tab. If you wanted to help secure the tent in high winds I believe you would use the upper tab. The directions for the tent do not discuss the use of guy lines.

I will post additional comments soon. I have plans to use it several times in the next month.

I have been looking at the ALPS Mountaineering Jagged Peak 2 and there is not alot of info. on it but your review helps out . looks like a good tent not a diamond but if it works that's all that matters . give an update after you really get to try it ........ Thanks alot

I emailed Aalps and they told me that one of the differences are in pole diameters. Jagged Peak 3 is 9.5mm, JP2 is 8.9mm, and extreme 3 is 8.5mm poles. The JP3 is also a 4 season tent--flaps that can zip up and cover the screened portions. I camp in some cold climates sometimes, so the zip up flaps should help with retaining warmth. The larger pole diameters was the main sellling point for me though.

You mentioned camping in the wind. Did you consider the Alps Extreme 3? There are not a lot of reviews on the Jagged Peak 3 or the Extreme 3.

Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
