Alpine UTE-42BT car stereo review bluetooth issues

Here's a quick review on my stereo headunit: Alpine UTE-42BT. In summary, it's not so much that there are bluetooth issues, more accurately there are bluetooth limitations. I have a Google Nexus 5 phone, and in order to stream audio over bluetooth for apps I use all the time like Google Maps (turn-by-turn navi) or Youtube, you first need to kickstart the bluetooth audio stream with an app that the Alpine stereo supports. The head unit supports firmware updates, so hopefully there will be some updates for this. In the meantime, I will be switching to the Pioneer MVH-X560BT that has all the functions that I like. Crutchfield has been great, no hassle exchanges. This is the Pioneer unit I will be swapping for: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Xf4FFb3YyKt/p_130X560BT/Pioneer-MVH-X560BT.html

Agreed - terrible device and one I would not recommend. I thought perhaps the installation was messed up, but obviously everyone else seems to be having similar issues with getting the audio streams to start. I've found that I have to turn the device on/off repeatedly in order to get it to pick up the audio streams that the device is sending. Next / Back, Play/Pause buttons are all hit n' miss. Can't wait to kick this sucker to the curb.

Dude who did this video is either a moron or paid by competitors to talk shit.. I own a Nexus 5 and just bought a UTE 42BT and it works flawlessly with the bluetooth no need to "kick start" anything.. all the sounds coming from the Nexus comes out of the car speakers automatically.. I tested google maps is works perfectly ..all of the apps works perfectly!

I have problems with my unit as well using my LG G2. It won't recognize youtube or spotify at all, and with google music it doesn't consistently work. I end up having to play the song on google music, cycle inputs a few times to get it to work, re-sync, pause, skip reverse/forward and play with it to get it to work. This happens every time I get in and out of the car. So annoying
