This is a short film of a 10 day holiday we took to the Maritime Alps in southern France during July 2013 primarily in search of butterflies. We based ourselves in the picturesque mountain top village of Rimplas, perfectly situated to explore the Mercantour National Park which holds some of the best alpine butterfly habitats in Europe. The Alpine flower meadows were alive with butterflies. The sheer numbers and variety was simply astounding! and the scenery stunning!. Around the village of Rimplas itself we saw over 50 species and over 90 species over the 10 days of our trip, all within 30k of our accommodation at the Hotel Randonneur. http://www.hostellerie-rimplas.fr/ Our hosts Stephane and his wife Ludivine could not have been more friendly and helpful, they made our stay that much more enjoyable. If you want to visit this beautiful region of France we would highly recommend staying at their hotel, it is beautifully situated on the top of a mountain with fantastic views, especially from the room we had.... Wonderful !!! and of course all those beautiful butterflies, flowers and other wildlife,not to mention the breathtaking scenery, WE LOVED IT!
