The Chasseral is a mountain of the Swiss Jura towering high above Lake Biel in the Swiss canton of Bern. With an elevation of 1607 meters, the Chasseral is the highest summit in the canton of Bern outside the Alps and the eastern most summit above 1600 meters in the Jura Mountains. It also happens to be the peak that lends its name to DT's RR1450 road wheelset. With a little over 15 kilometers on a beeline it sits nicely in my cycling backyard and thus is a frequent destination whether moving on 29 inch or 700C wheels, knobby or skinny tires. It's time for a little tribute to this gentle elephant of a hill who welcomes me year-round.
