2010 - 7 - Dolomites, Rosengarten Traverse
Mountain | reviews | videos | photos
Hike 4 of the summer 2010 season saw me travelling from Zermatt in Switzerland to Bolzano in Sud-Tyrol, Italy to take a crack at the Dolomites and eventually move into Austria. I mapped up and decided to begin on the Via Alpina Yellow trail at the western edge of the Dolomites and the Rosengarten group and maybe switch to the Alta Via 2 in order to head north into Italy. In the end, I only had a day and a half walking in the Dolomites as the commercialisation left a bitter taste (see accompanying photostory). This said, i was after all in the Dolomites and my jaw did drop on several occasions at the thought of just how awesome (in the original sense of this word) these mountains are. I think you said it best, the Dolomites are "dramatic". Beautiful scenes and by do they look tough. Thank you for the views and the effort of it all. Looking forward to other videos of yours. Excellent, majestic hiking. Thanks.
