Jinping-I Dam, China It's a hydroelectric power station concrete arch dam with height 305 m(1,001 ft). Commissioned in 2013 after seven years of construction which able to output 3,600 MW from Yalong River. 2. Nurek Dam, Tajikistan Another hydroelectric power station built using embankment technique on the Vakhsh River. Begin operation in 1972 as it was Soviet's tallest dam on its time at 300 m(980 ft). 3. Xiaowan Dam, China Operated by Huaneng, it measures 292 m(958 ft) tall and endowed with six Francis-type turbines with total power generation of 4,200 MW. It costs 3.9 billion USD and took eight years to build. 4. Xiluodu Dam, China With 700 m(2297 ft) long and 285.5 m(937 ft) high, it sits in forth spot in the list, it also world's third biggest power station behind Three Gorges and Itaipu dams. Able to output electricity as high as 13,860 MW. 5. Grande Dixence Dam, Switzerland It is a concrete gravity dam on the Dixence, Switzerland. At 285 m (935 ft) high, it is the tallest gravity dam in the world. 6. Enguri Dam, Georgia Georgia's biggest hydroelectric dam is world's second tallest concrete arch dam of 271.5 m (891 ft) that located in Jvari. Commissioned in 1987 and operated by Enguri Ltd. 7. Vajont Dam, Italy Disused dam become a historical monument when massive landslide happen in 1963 in which Italian government decide to stop harnessing power from it for safety reason. At 261.6 m (858 ft), it sit in seventh highest dam in the world. 8. Manuel Moreno Torres, Mexico Used to be called Chicoasén Dam which resembled its location. Constructed using both type: embankment and earth-fill, that create a 52,600 km² (20,309 sq mi) man-made lake with dam height 261 m (856 ft). 9. Nuozhadu Dam, China located in among highest number of dam built within China's province, this one could produce 5,850 MW electricity out of Lancang River. 261 m (856 ft) high dam was constructed for eight years and commissioned in 2012. 10. Tehri Dam, India India's tallest dam eventually in service in 2006 after many problems occurred that took 28 years to build. Located in Uttarakhand, it is earth-filled dam with height 261 m (856 ft).
